Guidelines for Floor Plans

Floor plans come in a variety of forms. Some only consist of single lines, some contain technical information and others are even hand-drawn. To ensure that you get a satisfactory result when your floor plan is added to your Proximity site, please follow these recommended guidelines.

SCALE BAR OR DIMENSIONED WALLS

Make sure that the floor plan you want to upload has a scale bar or walls labeled with dimensions. This allows us to scale a floor plan to the correct dimensions. While we do have alternative methods for estimating the correct dimensions, they're not always applicable. If they are, the result may not be as accurate as when the original floor plan already includes a scale bar.

NO IMAGES OF 3D MODELS

Unfortunately, we can't use images of 3D models or Matterport scans even if they're from a top-down perspective. This is due to perspective distortion, lack of scaling information and obscured details such as windows and doors. Please make sure to provide a proper 2D floor plan.

IMAGE RESOLUTION

The image resolution of a floor plan should be high enough to read the details on it. It's necessary to see where a window or a door starts and where it ends, how wide a wall is and understand the function of each space. If the resolution of the floor plan is not high enough, it can result in an inaccurate 3D model.

HAND-DRAWN FLOOR PLANS

We can only accept a hand-drawn floor plan if the drawing is very clean and if the measurements stated on the drawing are in line with the dimensions of the drawing itself.

NO FOLDS OR DISTORTIONS

If you're using a floor plan that is a picture from a camera or is scanned, please ensure there are no folds or distortions present. We're currently unable to convert these kinds of floor plans into 3D models.
